UTTORAN is an effort to uplift the underprivileged people surrounding us. The idea was initiated in 2012 when some students decided to stand by the needy people with their saved pocket money. After 3 years, in 2015 Uttoran has been certified for doing her job with soul honesty and dedication and it was registered under the West Bengal societies registration act XXVI of 1961 (Reg. No- S/2L/34008 of 2014-15).
We are working on education, healthcare and livelihood in rural and slum areas of Bankura and its nearby districts in West Bengal.
As we all were students, our initial effort was to help our needy friends by means of books and little money. Later on it rapidly spread its wings and started several projects to help more people from different sections of our society.
Education not only empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood but also increases one’s awareness on a range of issues from health care to social responsibilities. This process helps him/her evolve as a better citizen. Being a student we realized it and started an endeavour to make this a better society.
Not only through education, but we have taken possible initiatives to change the lives of the needy people through several other projects also, like, “SAVE FOOD, SAVE LIFE”, “CLOTH DISTRIBUTIONS” and “HELP THE PATIENTS” ETC.
Each day UTTORAN is growing and developing more and more by the endeavours of some students, who are working for it and continuing with their studies at the same time. At present 50+ volunteers are working in 5 different projects. So far we have served more than 3000 people through our different programs.
